Starting on August 11, 2023, a study will be conducted to better understand the flow patterns of effluent downstream of the Brule Mine discharge site. The study will be completed over a period of 4-5 days. The area of study will include Blind Creek and the Sukunka River, downstream of Blind Creek. The release of a non-toxic tracer upstream in Blind Creek will act as a proxy for effluent discharge, thus allowing for the measurement of dilution factors and the distance to complete mixing downstream of the release point. This study will provide a technical foundation for validating and refining the understanding of effluent mixing from Blind Creek into the Sukunka River.
