Community

Our operations are in the Peace Region in Northeast British Columbia (NEBC) amidst the stunning foothills of the Rocky Mountains. The region is known for its natural beauty, outdoor recreational opportunities, and abundant natural resources.

Local Communities

In the late 1970s and early 1980s, the community of Tumbler Ridge was purposely built to host and support the development of the area’s steelmaking coal mines, of which Quintette Mine was the largest. Several natural resource industries, including our mines, support the community of Chetwynd. The Peace region includes the cities of Dawson Creek and Fort St. John, which also support and benefit from resource development and our activities.

Our commitment to local employment and procurement contributes to the economic health of NEBC and the province as a whole. Around three-quarters of our employees are from Tumbler Ridge, Chetwynd, Dawson Creek, Mackenzie and Moberly Lake, and our regional spending each year contributes to the local businesses and the economy. We are proud to support not-for-profit organizations and their volunteers whose efforts enhance quality of life.
