Implementation of Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management (GISTM)
Conuma is committed to ensuring the integrity of all the Company’s tailings storage facilities. As part of efforts to innovate safe and sustainable mining practices, the Company has pledged to implement the Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management (GISTM). This standard was published in 2020 by the International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM). GISTM sets out a framework for prioritizing safety throughout the life of a tailings facility, including design, operation, closure, and post-closure, and Conuma will begin working on this framework with the storage facilities at Quintette.
